On that day did the king Ahasuerus give the house of Haman the Jews' enemy unto Esther the queen. And Mordecai came before the king; for Esther had told what he was unto her.

The king evicted Haman's family.  The truth is now on the table.  No more secrets and everybody is known for who they are.

And the king took off his ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it unto Mordecai. And Esther set Mordecai over the house of Haman.
The king took everything that belongs to Haman and gave it to Mordecai.  Goods belong to God's people.

And Esther spake yet again before the king, and fell down at his feet, and besought him with tears to put away the mischief of Haman the Agagite, and his device that he had devised against the Jews.

Mordecai is safe and Esther is safe.  But that was not enough for them.  They wanted the people safe.  Esther cried for the people the same way she cried for her own life.  When our hearts cry out for others the way we want for ourselves, you have connected to the intent God has always had for men.

Then the king held out the golden sceptre toward Esther. So Esther arose, and stood before the king,

Again Esther wanted to meet the king.  The king held out his scepter and Esther stood again before the king.

And said, If it please the king, and if I have favour in his sight, and the thing seem right before the king, and I be pleasing in his eyes, let it be written to reverse the letters devised by Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, which he wrote to destroy the Jews which are in all the king's provinces:

Esther said I need something in writing.  She came more than once and asked the king to make sure the people were safe from the mindset of the people who were instructed to kill all Jews.  Haman had several meetings before he died, and the set date of execution was still on the calendar to be carried out.  From India to Ethiopia the people knew of the execution but they also knew the law said they were to die.  Because the palace area knew of the change, Esther wanted the entire area to be saved and this was going to take some time to get the job done.

For how can I endure to see the evil that shall come unto my people? or how can I endure to see the destruction of my kindred?

Jesus did not want to save himself, he wants all men to be saved.

Esther and Mordecai both met with the king.  The king both to be in his presence.

Then the king Ahasuerus said unto Esther the queen and to Mordecai the Jew, Behold, I have given Esther the house of Haman, and him they have hanged upon the gallows, because he laid his hand upon the Jews.

Write ye also for the Jews, as it liketh you, in the king's name, and seal it with the king's ring: for the writing which is written in the king's name, and sealed with the king's ring, may no man reverse.

The king granted Esther and Mordecai their request.

Then were the king's scribes called at that time in the third month, that is, the month Sivan, on the three and twentieth day thereof; and it was written according to all that Mordecai commanded unto the Jews, and to the lieutenants, and the deputies and rulers of the provinces which are from India unto Ethiopia, an hundred twenty and seven provinces, unto every province according to the writing thereof, and unto every people after their language, and to the Jews according to their writing, and according to their language.

The king gave Esther and Mordecai to go forward and do the paperwork to get the message out to every Jew from India to Ethiopia.

10 And he wrote in the king Ahasuerus' name, and sealed it with the king's ring, and sent letters by posts on horseback, and riders on mules, camels, and young dromedaries:

The message is sent.

11 Wherein the king granted the Jews which were in every city to gather themselves together, and to stand for their life, to destroy, to slay and to cause to perish, all the power of the people and province that would assault them, both little ones and women, and to take the spoil of them for a prey,

The Jews were told to defend themselves if anyone approached them to kill them.  The law was overturned in the Jews' favor, but there may have been people who did not get the message.  So, Mordecai said defend yourselves if need be.  The Jews also had the right to keep any goods they found on their enemies after they defended themselves.

12 Upon one day in all the provinces of king Ahasuerus, namely, upon the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar.

12/13 was the execution day made by Haman.  This is now the date the Jews had the right to fight if necessary.

13 The copy of the writing for a commandment to be given in every province was published unto all people, and that the Jews should be ready against that day to avenge themselves on their enemies.

14 So the posts that rode upon mules and camels went out, being hastened and pressed on by the king's commandment. And the decree was given at Shushan the palace.

It took planning and time to get the word out.  They had almost 6 months to make sure that everyone was aware of the changes made by the king.  And the people move to get the word to all Jews.

15 And Mordecai went out from the presence of the king in royal apparel of blue and white, and with a great crown of gold, and with a garment of fine linen and purple: and the city of Shushan rejoiced and was glad.

Mordecai has a changed outlook on life.  His garment is different and his mind is too.  Mordecai believes God.

16 The Jews had light, and gladness, and joy, and honour.

The Jews are happy.

17 And in every province, and in every city, whithersoever the king's commandment and his decree came, the Jews had joy and gladness, a feast and a good day. And many of the people of the land became Jews; for the fear of the Jews fell upon them.

The Jews celebrated so until others noticed and became Jews also.

My Minute Song

In Esther chapter 8

There were things still undone

Haman is no more

But the fight was still on

Esther stood before the king

Again and again

She said I know that I am safe

But what about my kin?

Ester and Mordecai

Cried day after day

Pleading that the king

Would take the law away

The law still read

That all Jews must die

This was a task for

Esther and Mordecai

They did not give up

They did not give in

They said the law must change

For all my Jewish kin

And it was decreed

No Jew will be destroyed

The king kept his Word

And they all were filled with JOY!
