Proverb 7

Solomon teaches his children about prostitution.  He strongly urges them to stay away from the trap.  He reveals the trap that he knows exists.  He does not hold back the lesson needed for this uncomfortable truth.  We must tell our children what they need to know.  Speak to them as leaders.  Don't let anyone else tell your children what God has ordained you as parents to tell your child to steer them into life's paths, whether good or bad.  Parents are God's first teachers about the rights and wrongs of life when guiding their families. 7  My son, keep my words and lay up my commandments with thee. 2  Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye. 3  Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart. Son, keep my words and never forget them.   The words I am teaching from the mouth of God.   Make God's Word a priority and keep them close to what you do and think. 4  Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister; and call understanding th

Proverbs 6

Solomon seems to speak to his sons using several scenarios.  I read each scene and made my personal comments on what I learned.  The son of Solomon perhaps was a child during this conversation or teaching.  God wants us to tell our children about life.  We will not steer our children in the right directions if we do not guide them through what we know about life.  Solomon was a king.  His son will one day become king.  Solomon used a level of teaching that left no stones unturned.  The higher we view our standards of living, the higher our children will leap to the level God wants them to have in His knowledge and understanding about what it is that they must know about life. 6  My son, if thou be surety for thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger, Son, if you co-signed for a friend, or if you shook hands with a stranger, 2  Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth. You have put your mouth in a bad situation. 3  Do this

Proverb 5

My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding: Listen to my words.  Do not be absent when I am present and come close to what I am saying. 2  That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.   Respect people and what you know about them.  Keep your tongue full of the Word of God. 3  For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil: 4  But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword. 5  Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell. 6  Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them. Stay away from women who refuse to honor God. 7  Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth. Teach them young and teach them all about God. 8  Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house: 9  Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel: 10  Lest strangers be fil

Proverbs 4

4  Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding. Children are to be taught the Word of God. 2  For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law. My word is good, do not walk away from it. 3  For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother. I was young and innocent. He was David and Bathsheba's only child. 4  He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live. I was very young and I was taught the Word of the Lord. 5  Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. Wisdom and understanding are the Word of God.  Study the Word and don't forget what you learned.  Keep the Word as your daily conversation. 6  Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee. Don't leave without spending time with the Word of God.  The Words from the mouth of God will keep you alive and it will keep you s

Proverbs 3

3  My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: God's law is what He commanded.  2  For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee. Sounds like a fun life! 3  Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: Let compassion and honesty not run away from you.  Wear them as jewelry to be seen; write them upon the table of your heart. Stay with the Word of God!  Let the Word be an ornament around your neck.  Wear it like jewelry.  Let God's Word be written at the table of your heart.  Everybody wants to eat; so meet God daily in His Word! 4  So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man. You will be as Jesus who found favor with both God and man.  You will have right standing with God and with your job. 5  Trust in the  Lord  with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. Trust the Word with all you do.  Do not do anything without t
