Job 12

12
And Job answered and said,

No doubt but ye are the people, and wisdom shall die with you.

Job states you have all the wisdom and when you die the wisdom I need goes to the grave with you.

But I have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you: yea, who knoweth not such things as these?

You are men like me.  I have understanding also.  I am not beneath you.  Furthermore, what you claim you know who doesn't know that?

I am as one mocked of his neighbour, who calleth upon God, and he answereth him: the just upright man is laughed to scorn.

You are my friends.  I pray and God answers me.  I have not done wrong and you laugh me to scorn?

He that is ready to slip with his feet is as a lamp despised in the thought of him that is at ease.

Job begins to tell them more of God.  Perhaps the parts they left out.  Job said let me tell you what I kept back.  I guess you did understand me the last time I spoke so here goes:      A wise man will use a lamp to keep from falling.  Sometimes those who are seated think they have no use for light or a lamp because they will not fall.  I am one who needs the lamp.  You are those who sit and say or perhaps look down on us who need guidance.

The tabernacles of robbers prosper, and they that provoke God are secure; into whose hand God bringeth abundantly.

Robbers live in gated communities and those that are disobedient people live with security.  I am he who has nothing, yet I am loved by God.  Please do not be mistaken, having things are not an implication that you do well by God.

But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee:

Learn a lesson from animals.

Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee.

Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the Lord hath wrought this?

Who does not know that God is in control of everything?

10 In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.

Everything lives in God's hand.

11 Doth not the ear try words? and the mouth taste his meat?

12 With the ancient is wisdom; and in length of days understanding.

Some older people know what to do and the older they get they understand why.

13 With him is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding.

God knows everything about everything. God is older than us all.

14 Behold, he breaketh down, and it cannot be built again: he shutteth up a man, and there can be no opening.

15 Behold, he withholdeth the waters, and they dry up: also he sendeth them out, and they overturn the earth.

God controls the water.  No water or water everywhere.

16 With him is strength and wisdom: the deceived and the deceiver are his.

God is over those who do right and those who do wrong.

17 He leadeth counsellors away spoiled, and maketh the judges fools.

18 He looseth the bond of kings, and girdeth their loins with a girdle.

The kings take off royal robes and become dressed as peasants with a rope tied around their waists. Or could it be that the king is roped by God and moves when God says move.  Your royal wardrobe does not make you the head of all.  God tells kings what to do and not do.

19 He leadeth princes away spoiled, and overthroweth the mighty.

Princes are lead away as slaves and God removes their influence.

20 He removeth away the speech of the trusty, and taketh away the understanding of the aged.

He removes the advice of counselors and causes the aged to be forgetful.

21 He poureth contempt upon princes, and weakeneth the strength of the mighty.

He pours disgrace or underminds the princes and makes those with power as regular people.

22 He discovereth deep things out of darkness, and bringeth out to light the shadow of death.

He changes the position of what could not be understood made easy and those he goes into the dark and causes light to shine.  If it is dark he changes it to light and where there is darkness, he shines light.  He will take the cast down and set them above the nobles.  And if no one of importance is known in the darkness he raises up the uneducated and causes them to rule.

23 He increaseth the nations, and destroyeth them: he enlargeth the nations, and straiteneth them again.

He allows nations to increase in what they know to destroy them and he enlarges and restricts and allows poverty.

24 He taketh away the heart of the chief of the people of the earth, and causeth them to wander in a wilderness where there is no way.

When a nation is run by leaders who refuse God's instructions he can cause the leader to behave like an animal.

25 They grope in the dark without light, and he maketh them to stagger like a drunken man.

The leaders are lost and grope like a blind man.  Leaders search for what is right in their faces and cannot see the answer, because they are drunken men.

Job is under attack

His friends don’t have his back

Job  spared no lack

Job said don’t speak to me like that

You use your swelling words

Can’t wait, you want to be first

Learn a lesson from the birds

They fly while being unheard

God is in control

In case you didn’t know

He appoints the high and low

He destroys and makes things grow

All I am trying to say

Don’t talk to me that way

Not once for me, you prayed

I’m down but I don’t play
