Psalm 12
12 Help, Lord; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men.
David notices that the integrity of good people was not to be found. We live in a society like David. Without the Word of God, we will not find good people anywhere.
2 They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.
Words spoken in deceit are lies. We say things that sound good but have not good in them. The Word of God was written centuries ago. It is as relevant today as it was the day God gave men instructions. It is no denying we are living as it is written in this chapter and in order for things to be different we must repent. We must seek God's Word.
3 The Lord shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things.
Though flattering lips boast, God said, He will make sure the lips of those who flatter are silenced.
4 Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?
The sounds that flattering lips speak are: nobody tells me what to do. I do not need the Word, I have a mind of my own. Even those who say they know God many times refuse to check to see if what they say lines up with God's Word.
5 For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the Lord; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him.
God listens to the poor and needy. He will not ignore their cry. Many times those who block the Word keep the poor and needy from learning what they have a right to know; but they are not taught correctly. They make sounds that only God can understand. Lord help me is what they cry.
6 The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
God's Word is flawless. Since the day He wrote it, which is a long time ago, no one has found one word missing or found to be a lie.
7 Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.
God says He will keep His and preserve His Word. Those who hide His Word in their hearts will be kept because of the Word in them.
8 The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.
The absence of God's Word is the presence of evil working all around.
Song
Where O where are the good men gone?
Where O where can they be?
If the Word of God can be found in him
Lord let that good man be me
For the Word of the Lord is good
For the Words of the Lord is right
We must return to His Word and do as He says
Let His Ways be our delight.
