Psalm 8
8 O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.
Oh! Lord! Our Lord you are better than anything on earth. Your residence is above the heavens! It is better to have a good name and you have made your name superior to all brands of man. You serve the best in everything you serve. And that is everything.
2 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.
You ordained babies and sucklings or infants. Their mouths were created to speak your words. Before Jesus was born, while everything was positioning itself to show forth his coming, you called Him. You had enemies and you said I will produce a child that will be born to handle the enemies in that era. Issac, Moses, Samson, David, The king of Josiah's day, Jesus! just to name a few.
3 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;
When I consider what you made with your fingers, I understand its purpose. You appointed the moon and stars and you told them to always do what You created it to do.
4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
This question was asked of Ruth, David's grandmother, the wife of Boaz. This question was also asked of David when You told him that his son Solomon will build You a house.
5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
Was a man of less value than angels? Did God make a man with less power than that of angels? What is the difference between man and angels? Angels never die. It is appointed unto a man once to die. Angels are assigned to earth and heaven. Man one day will live in heaven. Angels never sleep, man does. God crowned man with beauty and honor. Angels stand in awe of man. Angels who watch over the righteous are intrigued. The glory of God is everywhere even on the earth which is not far from God.
6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:
You made all things. You gave man authority over all that you made. Nothing has more power than man. You told man to make the earth beautiful. Replenish it and I will supply all you need to make it so.
7 All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;
8 The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.
He gave man the understanding of these animals and fowls so that we can have food, clothing, shelter, and most of all we can see the glory of God in all that he made. What has been man's focus? Man's focus has not been as God's. Man has spent most of his time trying to dominate man. Lord, bring us back into your original intent.
9 O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!
Oh Lord, Your name is excellent in all the things in all the earth. God's Name Brand is bar none.
Sing
Oh Lord how excellent is your name in all the earth!
