Psalm 41
41 Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the Lordwill deliver him in time of trouble.
David considered himself poor. Poor in knowing that godly people need support. Whoever helps the poor God will deliver them when they have trouble. When you consider the poor, you make room for them.
2 The Lord will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.
Those who consider the poor will be kept alive and he will always have upon hte earth. God will help in when his enemies try to harm him.
3 The Lord will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness.
He will help good doctors when he is sick. He will know what to do to live.
4 I said, Lord, be merciful unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.
David speaks to God. I have sinned against you.
5 Mine enemies speak evil of me, When shall he die, and his name perish?
My enemies want me to die. People do that today when they covet.
6 And if he come to see me, he speaketh vanity: his heart gathereth iniquity to itself; when he goeth abroad, he telleth it.
People pretend to come to see me so they can run away to tell others of my condition.
God have mercy on me.
7 All that hate me whisper together against me: against me do they devise my hurt.
All meaning many that hate me whisper about me. If I whisper, hate, and devise hurt, I am evil.
8 An evil disease, say they, cleaveth fast unto him: and now that he lieth he shall rise up no more.
They tell others I am really sick. I will die because of the disease I have.
9 Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.
My close friends are doing me wrong.
10 But thou, O Lord, be merciful unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them.
Heal me so I can deal with the wrong these evildoers.
11 By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.
You favor those who do right and the enemy will not have victory over God's people.
12 And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, and settest me before thy face for ever.
God supports me when I do right. I am ever before you and you are always with me.
13 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel from everlasting, and to everlasting. Amen, and Amen.
Thank you for hearing my plea. I recognize you are God always, Amen.
My Song
Lord, you know my name
Lord, you know my condition
Lord, you know my pain
You are my salvation
When my friends won't
And my enemy don't
Remember me
Lord, you know my name.
