Psalm 57
Psalms 57:1-11 (KJV) 1 [[To the chief Musician, Altaschith, Michtam of David, when he fled from Saul in the cave.]] Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until [these] calamities be overpast.
David continues to avoid the foolishness of the madness of Saul.
He makes His plea to God by asking God to keep Him hidden in a dark spot specifically under the shadow of His Wing.
Mother hens are protective of their chicks and they are often aggressive toward chicks of another mother. ... Mother hens will gather and herd their own chicks to protect them against pecking and aggression from predators and other hens. She will gather the chicks under her wings to protect them when a threat is present
David is asking God to peck off the enemy. Lord, you fight for me.
2 I will cry unto God most high; unto God that performeth [all things] for me.
I look to God for everything. All my help comes from God. My boast is not in myself as a warrior. I know I can fight but I cannot fight like God.
3 He shall send from heaven, and save me [from] the reproach of him that would swallow me up. Selah. God shall send forth his mercy and his truth.
Mercy and truth come from heaven. Forgiveness is mercy and what God has already judge right is what David is requesting.
4 My soul [is] among lions: [and] I lie [even among] them that are set on fire, [even] the sons of men, whose teeth [are] spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.
I am in the midst of people who have a spirit of a ferocious animal. To be described as a mindless animal who kills for prey is not the way any human would want to be known as in his character. David's accuracy of these men who want to kill him without cause shows us a portrait of how the enemy hates God’s Word. David represents the Word of God; Saul and his evil supporters represent the wicked among God’s people.
5 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; [let] thy glory [be] above all the earth.
David is in the hiding place, under his wing he continues to sing.
6 They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul is bowed down: they have digged a pit before me, into the midst whereof they are fallen [themselves]. Selah.
David views from beneath the wings of God and he sees the destruction of the enemy. Still, David sings.
7 My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.
David still in that safe place sings I’m loving it! I am hiding and God is fighting for me.
8 Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I [myself] will awake early.
David feels the music even under the pressure of his own life being under attack. When you sing under pressure you know the Living God.
9 I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations.
Those that see me hiding and they are with me, will hear me praise!!! I got a song not only those who know me will hear, this song will hold the lyrics that I want to be heard by all.
10 For thy mercy [is] great unto the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds.
You are full mercy and your truth is your judgment is always right. You are a righteous God.
11 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: [let] thy glory [be] above all the earth.
You be made BIG beyond all I know to exist! Show your existence high so all the earth will know you are God!!!!! Make your presence known.
