Psalm 83
83 Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.
2 For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head makes a loud noise of confusion.
Lord Your enemy makes a loud and confusing noise. Those that refuse to believe Your Word have decided to show that they are not afraid.
3 They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.
Crooks meet and have meetings with more crooks against the people who know You. They have even discussed ways to come against those they will never find in their search.
4 They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.
They came up with the idea of killing all of those who believe in You. They discuss wiping us off the face of the earth.
5 For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:
They have made an alliance with each other against what makes sense to the things that pertain to life and godliness.
6 The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes;
7 Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;
8 Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah.
All of these of whom you corrected in past times are the ones rising again to fight against Your Word. They still hate being corrected by You. You are the mirror that reflects the truth and they do not want to be seen as vividly as what You show when You are around. So they figure the best that they can do is to get rid of You by killing all of us believe that You are the Living God.
9 Do unto them as unto the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison:
10 Which perished at Endor: they became as dung for the earth.
11 Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: yea, all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna:
12 Who said, Let us take to ourselves the houses of God in possession.
Handle them the way you did in our former years. You showed them who was God and they submitted to Your command. But here we go again with the same ancestors of these same people, doing the same evil things. Help us again Oh, Lord!
13 O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind.
14 As the fire burneth a wood, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire;
15 So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm.
16 Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O Lord.
17 Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish:
If they will be corrected by fire, then use fire.
If making this shame, then use what You do to bring shame on them.
If you have to shock them to good behavior, then scare the evil out of them.
If you must put them to death, then Your will be done.
18 That men may know that thou, whose name alone is Jehovah, art the most high over all the earth.
Fight for us. Then they will know nothing has changed about how You do what You do when Your people need help and You fight on their behalf.
