PSALM 97

97 The Lord reigneth; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof.

GOD lives everywhere and He  is not leaving.  Let the islands and all small parts of  land be glad.  We are not alone no matter how disconnected we may feel.  God gave us His Word and He is there for us.

2 Clouds and darkness are round about him: righteousness and judgment are the habitation of his throne.

In the day we see clouds.  God is there.  At night we see darkness, God is all there.  God is known for His standard of judging all things right and according to truth. His throne is established on truth.  God knows the truth about everything.

3 A fire goeth before him, and burneth up his enemies round about.

If you are an enemy to the Word of God, before God appears, everything that is not right will go up in flames.  If God wants to give you revelation knowledge of His Word ask Him to clean you up before you can expect Him to show up to give you a clear understanding of His Word.

4 His lightnings enlightened the world: the earth saw, and trembled.

The world knows that there is God when we see lightnings.  The earth saw lightnings and tremble.  When God showed up upon Mount Sinai, the people were afraid.  This is where the earth met God and it could not stand still.  I can only imagine what it was like to see God and walk away to tell about it!  I see Him in His Word and I keep coming back for more.  Just think about it, one day I will live with Him all the  time and behold the Living God face to face.

5 The hills melted like wax at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.

The hills could not stand the heat of God's presence.  When we have problem in life and we come close to the place of God through His Word, problems have to exit.

6 The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the people see his glory.

The heavens will argue its case and display God is God.  The heavens will display His beauty and it will take no credit of its own.

7 Confounded be all they that serve graven images, that boast themselves of idols: worship him, all ye gods.

The people who carved gods, from God's trees etc. will be ashamed when they see the gods they made fall down to worship the living God.  Ask the Philistines' god, Dagon.

8 Zion heard, and was glad; and the daughters of Judah rejoiced because of thy judgments, O Lord.

Jerusalem heard and was glad to know God lives.  All the surrounding areas heard that justice will be served!

9 For thou, Lord, art high above all the earth: thou art exalted far above all gods.

When you are as high as God is, you can see everything.   He sees clearly everything about us.  That is why He can be trusted.  He knows what He is talking about all the time.

10 Ye that love the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.

People who love God, hate evil.  God keeps alive all who come to Him.  He saves them from the wicked persons.

11 Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.

Light is planted for the righteous.  And the people who do right will be made glad.

12 Rejoice in the Lord, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.

Because God is faithful to His people, all the people of God be happy.  Tell the Lord thank you when you remember His goodness.  His Word is His goodness.  Study His Word!
