Proverbs 3

My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:

God's law is what He commanded.

For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.

Sounds like a fun life!

Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:

Let compassion and honesty not run away from you.  Wear them as jewelry to be seen; write them upon the table of your heart.

Stay with the Word of God!  Let the Word be an ornament around your neck.  Wear it like jewelry.  Let God's Word be written at the table of your heart.  Everybody wants to eat; so meet God daily in His Word!

So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.

You will be as Jesus who found favor with both God and man.  You will have right standing with God and with your job.

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Trust the Word with all you do.  Do not do anything without the Word of God.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

In everything you do seek God's way of doing what you do.

Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.

Emotions are real.  Emotions in charge of your decisions is deadly.

It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

Spending time in God's Word is healthy.

Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:

Put God first in everything.

10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

If my savings is not full, then, the problem is with me not God.  Lord, teach me how to fill my barns/ savings.  The new wine is new ideas.  Wine makes people happy.  Lord teach me how to do something refreshing.  If my barn is my heart and mind to carry out His will for my life, then thank you Lord, I have favor and fullness and a load of ideas.

11 My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord; neither be weary of his correction:

God will correct us if need be.

12 For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

Just a like a father that loves his son and corrects him, so it is with the Father when He corrects us.

13 Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.

A man is over joyed when he follows God.

14 For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.

The Word of God is better than all things.

15 She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.

The Word of God is better than the  finest stones of beauty.

16 Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour.

Blessing in both hands!

17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.

God's Word lived out is nice.

18 She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.

A tree full of life to all who grabs wisdom.  Forever producing.  Happy are they who has this tree.

19 The Lord by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.

What God builds, last.

20 By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.

The elements of the air obey God.

21 My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:

Keep up with the Word daily.

22 So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck.

The Word of God looks good around your neck.  Not to be worn outwardly but inwardly.

23 Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.

You will always be safe.

24 When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.

The Word of God gives you rest when it is time to go to sleep and your sleep will be good.

25 Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.

Stay calm.

26 For the Lord shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.

Thank you, Lord, for being my God.

27 Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.

28 Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.

Don't spend money when you owe people you owe.

29 Devise not evil against thy neighbour, seeing he dwelleth securely by thee.

Be kind to others.

30 Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.

If someone tells you about another person, why are you mad at them too?  There is no reason to pass down ridiculous hatred.

31 Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways.

Do not desire evil doings of others.

32 For the froward is abomination to the Lord: but his secret is with the righteous.

Being unkind to others is on God's hate list.

33 The curse of the Lord is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just.

There is a vast difference between holy and unholy.  Righteous living is living.  Unrighteous living is death.

34 Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.

God will take care of evil leaders who hold down His people and those who keep people in the dark.

35 The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.

The righteous people will RISE! AND HONOR WILL BE THEIR IDENTITY!  Those who refuse God's Word will be promoted to the hall of shame.
