Proverb 7

Solomon teaches his children about prostitution.  He strongly urges them to stay away from the trap.  He reveals the trap that he knows exists.  He does not hold back the lesson needed for this uncomfortable truth.  We must tell our children what they need to know.  Speak to them as leaders.  Don't let anyone else tell your children what God has ordained you as parents to tell your child to steer them into life's paths, whether good or bad.  Parents are God's first teachers about the rights and wrongs of life when guiding their families.

My son, keep my words and lay up my commandments with thee.

Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.

Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.

Son, keep my words and never forget them.   The words I am teaching from the mouth of God.   Make God's Word a priority and keep them close to what you do and think.

Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister; and call understanding thy kinswoman:

Make wisdom close to you as your own sister; call understanding your relative.

That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger which flattereth with her words.

If you keep wisdom, it will keep you from the world's way of living.

For at the window of my house I looked through my casement,

And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding,

Solomon was looking out of his window and saw a young man who was being led like a fool,

Passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house,

In the twilight, in the evening, in the black and dark night:

The foolish man approached  the harlot's place of dwelling by evening when the sun was down and late at night:

10 And, behold, there met him a woman with the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart.

Finally, a woman dressed as a prostitute met him.

11 (She is loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house:

She was known and refused to obey God's Word and she did not keep her own house.

12 Now is she without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner.)

She acts like a prostitute.

13 So she caught him, and kissed him, and with an impudent face said unto him,

Without shame, the woman grabbed the young man, and kissed him,

14 I have peace offerings with me; this day have I payed my vows.

The harlot lied to the man by saying I have a peace offering and I have kept my promises.

15 Therefore came I forth to meet thee, diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee.

I was looking for you, and I found you.

16 I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved works, with fine linen of Egypt.

17 I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.

18 Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves.

I have made my bed ready for you.  Come to my home and let us make love and comfort each other.

19 For the goodman is not at home, he is gone a long journey:

The man who owns the house is gone and he will be gone for a while.

20 He hath taken a bag of money with him, and will come home at the day appointed.

He will be back no time soon.

21 With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him.

The young man fell into her trap.

22 He goeth after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks;

He follows her immediately.

23 Till a dart strike through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it is for his life.

He left without thinking.  He had no idea of the outcome.  When we leave or doubt God and go into sin, we have no idea of the consequences we are headed into.

24 Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth.

Listen to me children and give me your undivided attention.

25 Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths.

Do not go near this woman.

26 For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men have been slain by her.

She looks for weak men: a strong man who may be having a hard time has been killed by her.

27 Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.

She is a destroyer and her ultimate goal is to kill her prey.
