Proverb 2
2 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
If we will take in God's Word and put it in a place that it will not be tampered with;
2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
I want you to sit close to my Wisdom, then exercise what you know God said.
3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
If you make it known you want my knowledge, and make your voice heard that you want to know what God said;
4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
If you make my Word your number one priority and look hard to find an understanding of what I said;
5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.
Come after me with all you have and you will find me.
6 For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
God is the only one who gives wisdom: His mouth only sends knowledge and understanding of His Word.
7 He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.
He preserves straight talk for those who want to know His Word: He is a fighter for those who want to do right.
8 He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.
He watches over the paths of His Word that are settled in heaven and makes sure there will be no harm to those who travel on His path.
9 Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.
When you do these things, you will be in a safe place.
10 When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;
When my Word is precious to you;
11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:
Making the right choices will be delightsome and having an understanding will keep you coming.
12 To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;
God will keep you from the evil ways of men.
13 Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;
God has many paths; preaching, teaching, humor, singing, dancing, and so on, and some people leave what He has provided for us and stay away into darkness or the ways of the world.
14 Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked;
People who leave God, are happy to do what is wrong and love the protection of evil words by those who intimidate the simple.
15 Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths:
The words of the lawless are shady and they move in a crooked path.
16 To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words;
God's Word will keep you from strange relationships.
God created relationships and He wants us to seek Him to find the right mate for us.
17 Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.
There are women who leave the Word of God. Do not follow anyone who leaves the instruction in how to live God's way. When anyone leaves the Word of God, that is a clear indicator that the relationship will not work.
18 For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.
Her house is a dead end.
19 None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life.
Everyone who walks into her house does not come out alive. Who knows this better than Solomon?
20 That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.
God is good company. Stay in His company and He will draw others like you who hunger after the Word of God.
21 For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.
Those who listen to me will succeed in life.
22 But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.
If we do not obey God's instructions we will surely fail at anything we do.
