140 Deliver me, O Lord, from the evil man: preserve me from the violent man;

Lord, please guide me from the heart of people who refuse to recognize You as God.  Lord, help me to see You in the people that are assigned to my life.  Open the stony heart and grow Your Word in those I am supposed to be connected to.  Help me to be an instrument in sharing You with those in my life.  Don't let me fall into the hand of evil and violent men.

2 Which imagine mischiefs in their heart; continually are they gathered together for war.

Disconnect me from men whose hearts are not like yours.  Show me how to demonstrate Your character in my relationships.  Help me to turn away from people who refuse to follow Your path quickly.  Show me how to live and love and be a light to those who want to please You.  

3 They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adders' poison is under their lips. Selah.

People who refuse to search Your Word speak like snakes.  Help me to respond like You to those I love.  May my life be a beacon of light to make a change.

4 Keep me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man; who have purposed to overthrow my goings.

Thank you for hearing my prayer.  Keep me safe.  Preserve me from violence.  I have lived a life of violence, and I hate it.  Give me a second chance to see life as You meant it to be for me.  Help me to not to ignore signals that will harm me because I do not want to let go.

5 The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the wayside; they have set gins for me. Selah.

The proud have set traps to trap me. Thank you for making all the traps set for me to fail. 

6 I said unto the Lord, Thou art my God: hear the voice of my supplications, O Lord.

Lord help me.  Lord hear the voice of my heart.  Help me to learn to get along with others.  We do not want to miss being with You.  You make life make sense.

7 O God the Lord, the strength of my salvation, thou hast covered my head in the day of battle.  

Lord, You are the strength of my salvation.  You keep me balanced.  Lord, continue to hold me up.  Lord, thank You for not letting me go.

8 Grant not, O Lord, the desires of the wicked: further not his wicked device; lest they exalt themselves. Selah.

Lord, thank you for putting an end to those who refuse to follow Your instructions.  Heal me from wicked people.  Lord help me to attract good people.

9 As for the head of those that compass me about, let the mischief of their own lips cover them.

All who refuse to follow you, bring them to a complete stop.

10 Let burning coals fall upon them: let them be cast into the fire; into deep pits, that they rise not up again.

Destroy every trace of evil from those who want to hurt me.

11 Let not an evil speaker be established in the earth: evil shall hunt the violent man to overthrow him.

Lord thank you for exposing those who hinder your people from hearing Your Word.

12 I know that the Lord will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and the right of the poor.

When God corrects, He will make sure those who were hurt will be protected.

13 Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy presence

People who serve You will see the victory over the enemy!
