Proverbs 12

                 

12 Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is brutish.

It is stupid to hate instructions.

Anyone who loves the Word of God loves knowing how life works: but anyone who hates God's Word has the mind of a beast.

2 A good man obtaineth favour of the Lord: but a man of wicked devices will he condemn.

A man that lives by God's Word gets God's favor!: all who live without God's Word will be condemned.

3 A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.

If you want what you do to last, use God's instructions: If not leave the Word of God out of what you do.  This is a guaranteed way of being a loser.

4 A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.

A woman who fears God makes her husband looks like a king!: but a wife without God is a husband's decay or cancer of life.

5 The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.

Good people live by God's advice: advice of the wicked is deception.

Plans led by God will work.  Wicked people prop to look like they have a planned outcome.

6 The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.

The wicked plot and wait for blood to be shed: the words of those who trust God will be delivered by good or God's advice.

The wicked plan murder: Godly words keep us safe.

7 The wicked are overthrown, and are not: but the house of the righteous shall stand.

Wicked people will be thrown over, and disappear: but those who do right will keep living the good life.

Utterly destroyed vs eternal life

8 A man shall be commended according to his wisdom: but he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised.

Praise belongs to a man who lives by God's Word: anyone who lives without God's instruction will be avoided/hated.

9 He that is despised, and hath a servant, is better than he that honoureth himself, and lacketh bread.

If a servant works for a man who is loathed, it is better than working for a man who calls himself good and has nothing to show for it.

In other words, bragging about yourself ownself is lower than a man who is hated by others.

10 A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

A good man takes care of his animal: but a cruel man's best care of an animal is wicked.

The compassion of a wicked man is cruelty toward animals.

11 He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding.

If you work hard for what you have you will be hungry: but anyone who wastes time is void of understanding the Word of God.

Work hard vs playing the lottery

12 The wicked desireth the net of evil men: but the root of the righteous yieldeth fruit.

The evil man wants the protection and wages of those who do evil: but those who do good produce good fruit.   

13 The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble.

The wicked's own mouth will keep him in trouble:  but those who speak the truth will be set free.

Wicked have to lie to try to get out trouble vs. godly can explain with the truth how he got in the trouble he is in.

14 A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth: and the recompence of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him.

Good words keep you in good standing: and hard work will pay off.

15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.

A fool, who refuse to seek God's Word thinks he is right: but a person who listens to the Word of Gods is wise.

A fool suppose he is right vs a humble man that knows God's Word is for sure he is right.

16 A fool's wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covereth shame.

A fool can be seen by others by his actions:  A godly man is calm and waits for the right time to react.

*quick tempered  vs calm or cautious person will wait for the right moment to speak.

17 He that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.

Tell the truth and you represent you are a godly: but a liar is a deceiver.

18 There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health.

Words spoken without love is like a razor cut: but a word spoken in truth is coming from the mouth of the wise.

Cutting words vs healing words.  Words have power.

19 The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.

Truth lasts forever: lies are exposed quickly.

eternity vs not long

20 Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellors of peace is joy.

Deceit lives in the heart of those who have evil imaginations: but the Word of God speaks life and produces happiness.

21 There shall no evil happen to the just: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.

People who do right cannot be stopped: but evildoers will have problems all the time.

22 Lying lips are abomination to the Lord: but they that deal truly are his delight.

God hates liars: God loves people who tell the truth.

23 A prudent man concealeth knowledge: but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.

A man who keeps his mouth closed is a good man: a fool talks too much.

 *wise people know how to be quiet vs fools shout folly

24 The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.  

Leadership will be given to those who are careful enough to do things right: a lazy man shall pay high interest.

25 Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.

When a man is worried, he looks like he has problems: but if someone tells him something good, he looks feels so much better.

26 The righteous is more excellent than his neighbour: but the way of the wicked seduceth them.

Doing good for others is more righteous: but an evil man will use people to take from them.

27 The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious.

The lazy man does nothing with the good he has: but a man that is not lazy will do what is good for the things he worked hard to get.

28 In the way of righteousness is life: and in the pathway thereof there is no death.

Walking with God is fun!!! You will enjoy every path He takes you and it is exciting!
