Ezekiel 2
Ezekiel 2:1-10 (KJV)
1 And he said unto me, Son of man, stand upon thy feet, and I will speak unto thee.
After the vision of God, God told Ezekiel to get up and He will speak to him. Get up is a good word to live by. The only way we can hear from God is to be fully awake.
2 And the spirit entered into me when he spake unto me, and set me upon my feet, that I heard him that spake unto me.
The spirit of God came into Ezekiel and spoke to him and Ezekiel stood on his feet and listened to what God had to say.
3 And he said unto me, Son of man, I send thee to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that hath rebelled against me: they and their fathers have transgressed against me, [even] unto this very day.
I believe God chose Ezekiel because he was bold enough to say what He wanted him to say.
4 For [they are] impudent children and stiffhearted. I do send thee unto them; and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD.
The people I am sending you to are shameless and hardheads. I am sending you to them. I am God and I am sending you to these people!
5 And they, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, (for they [are] a rebellious house,) yet shall know that there hath been a prophet among them.
I want you to speak to them even if they refuse to listen to what I told you to tell them. But I want them to know that there is someone who is telling them what I said.
6 And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns [be] with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they [be] a rebellious house.
God told Ezekiel not to be afraid of what the people will do, or say because they are like snakes. Don't let words or looks keep you from speaking My Word. You live around people who are evil and they are rebellious.
7 And thou shalt speak my words unto them, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear: for they [are] most rebellious.
Speak to these rebellious people even if they do not want to hear what you have to say.
8 But thou, son of man, hear what I say unto thee; Be not thou rebellious like that rebellious house: open thy mouth, and eat that I give thee.
God told Ezekiel not to become a rebellious person. Say what I will tell you to say.
9 And when I looked, behold, an hand [was] sent unto me; and, lo, a roll of a book [was] therein;
Ezekiah saw the Word of God that was given to him by the Hand of God.
10 And he spread it before me; and it [was] written within and without: and [there was] written therein lamentations, and mourning, and woe.
In the book were crying and the crying of death and sorrow.
