Jesus said upon the foundation of the Word of God, I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not destroy it. (Matthew 16:18)
Let us see Job as the church that Jesus built.
Job is sound in spirit, yet his physical body has suffered much pain. When the physical body hurts as Job did, it is hard to hear what God taught you about you. Since the beginning of the church, the church has suffered pain. Job has no idea how strong God said he is. He has lost almost everything. He looks at his loss and he equates his loss with his purpose of being. When the church pays more attention to the absence of stuff, we sometimes respond as Job in chapter 17. The things we possess, we allow determining our value. What God said about his church, he meant every word. His church will not be destroyed. Job was hit with everything man values. His cattle, his home, his children, and lastly his heath. Job's right spirit is what kept him alive. Job's friends added to the suffering he was trying to endure. When the church is faced with problems and problems and more problems, the church's foundation will remain secure. When the foundation is there, you can build again. How do we know when we are as Job, the church of God? We know that we are the church of God when we know and rest on the Word of God. A church is where God ordained for a body of people to get to know Him. Not part of Him, all of who He is. Job is showing us the words that should not be in our vocabulary. Job lived before the answer came. Job showed God what man needed to be complete. Job had everything and lost all except his integrity which is his foundation of faith. Now God allows Job a replica of the church, to be tested to discover what is needed under attack. When Job gave voice to the missing pieces he needed, God took Job's concerns and provided everything man will ever need to be established as His Church. God gave Job what he requested. When Job was down, God listened to the heart of a man who cried out to him and answered his every need. Job was tested and we were given the glory of what Job went through after the assessment of man when he was tested by Satan with God's permission. The church will never go lacking. God saw Job and God sees the church and heard the cry of Job, and the church, and made sure that Job and the church were well provided for.
Job 17
My breath is corrupt, my days are extinct, the graves are ready for me.
2 Are there not mockers with me? and doth not mine eye continue in their provocation?
3 Lay down now, put me in a surety with thee; who is he that will strike hands with me?
4 For thou hast hid their heart from understanding: therefore shalt thou not exalt them.
5 He that speaketh flattery to his friends, even the eyes of his children shall fail.
6 He hath made me also a byword of the people; and aforetime I was as a tabret.
7 Mine eye also is dim by reason of sorrow, and all my members are as a shadow.
8 Upright men shall be astonied at this, and the innocent shall stir up himself against the hypocrite.
9 The righteous also shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger.
10 But as for you all, do ye return, and come now: for I cannot find one wise man among you.
If a man is not a part of God's Church, no one will find wisdom in that man.
11 My days are past, my purposes are broken off, even the thoughts of my heart.
12 They change the night into day: the light is short because of darkness.
13 If I wait, the grave is mine house: I have made my bed in the darkness.
14 I have said to corruption, Thou art my father: to the worm, Thou art my mother, and my sister.
15 And where is now my hope? as for my hope, who shall see it?
16 They shall go down to the bars of the pit, when our rest together is in the dust.
These words must not be spoken as believers. Job told God how he felt. Today, we do not have to speak as Job. God gave us the answer to every missing thing we may encounter.
Sing or Say
The church is mine
From bottom to the top
Satan ain’t your boss
He will be stopped
Tell pain and suffering
To pass on by
Every one of your needs
I’ve already supplied
Learn from Job
In what not to say
He was the first and the last
Of his day
I’m God
And I saw Job through
I didn’t leave Job
Tell my church I won’t leave you.
I am God
And I’m good
I am God
And I’m good
I am God
And I’m good
I never changed
I’m still good
