Psalm 10
10 Why standest thou afar off, O Lord? why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble?
When we get tired of problems that others cause in our lives because of the Word of God, we tend to think that God is not near. We sometimes go as far as to say to God, You see what I am facing, but You seem to be hiding from me.
2 The wicked in his pride doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined.
The wicked will not humble himself and afflicts those whom he feels is less than he is. The Psalmist sings, let him be overtaken by his own wicked devices.
Wicked people treat people wrong.
3 For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the Lord abhorreth.
The wicked brags of the sins he wants to carry out, and he shakes hands with others like him, who God hates.
4 The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.
The wicked ignores God. The wicked show in his face that he hates the Word of God. God is not in any of his thoughts.
5 His ways are always grievous; thy judgments are far above out of his sight: as for all his enemies, he puffeth at them.
The wicked ways are always evil. The Word of God is not what he seeks to know: as for those who want to please God, he blows against them as a strong wind.
6 He hath said in his heart, I shall not be moved: for I shall never be in adversity.
He thinks within himself, nobody can tell me what to do. No one can come against me.
7 His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity.
The wicked mouth is full of bringing people down, lies, and undermining others: his tongue says one thing, all the while he is planning or doing evil and corrupt things. The tongue has a hidden agenda. In other words, the mouth is full of sin on top and under ther tongue; the entire mouth is full of wickedness.
8 He sitteth in the lurking places of the villages: in the secret places doth he murder the innocent: his eyes are privily set against the poor.
Who is against the innocent or who are some of the the innocent? Aborted babies are some of the innocent. The practices are done in secret places. Other places are in places you would think you can trust such as offices of well known positions. It is hard to tell if a man is wicked if he is a well known person of influence such as government official, pastor, or even a close friend. He hides in places where people are going about with daily living. When he hides, he takes the lives of people who are not harming anyone: he studies people who cannot fight back to do them wrong. A wicked man sees taking from the poor as a benefit.
9 He lieth in wait secretly as a lion in his den: he lieth in wait to catch the poor: he doth catch the poor, when he draweth him into his net.
He sets a trap for those who are unable to fight him back while hiding. (poor- barren or unproductive)
10 He croucheth, and humbleth himself, that the poor may fall by his strong ones.
He hires others to do his dirty work, while he hides out. The leader of the wicked is weak, he uses the strength of the stronger wicked to carry out his evil plots.
11 He hath said in his heart, God hath forgotten: he hideth his face; he will never see it.
He thinks God has lost His memory and God did not see the evil he did.
12 Arise, O Lord; O God, lift up thine hand: forget not the humble.
The righteous cry out and ask for the help of God. He asks God to remember the people who are His.
13 Wherefore doth the wicked contemn God? he hath said in his heart, Thou wilt not require it.
The wicked despise God. The wicked think God will not make him pay for what he has done.
14 Thou hast seen it; for thou beholdest mischief and spite, to requite it with thy hand: the poor committeth himself unto thee; thou art the helper of the fatherless.
God saw every move of the wicked. He saw even what he was planning and thinking. God's eyes are on those who are his and he will help those who cannot help themselves.
15 Break thou the arm of the wicked and the evil man: seek out his wickedness till thou find none.
Break the devices of the wicked and evil man; find out what his plans are until you know every move he plans to carry out.
16 The Lord is King for ever and ever: the heathen are perished out of his land.
The Lord is overall. He will rid His land of those who refuse to do right.
17 Lord, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear:
God hears the cry of those who are submitted to Him. The Lord will repair their hearts and He will position His ear to pay attention to their cry:
18 To judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that the man of the earth may no more oppress.
This is how God will hear the cry of those who are His: He will remove the oppression from those who are oppressed and those who do not have fathers, He will become a father to them and show them the way they should go.
Song
If God told you to sing a song about the wicked will you sing it?
If God told you to sing a song about the heathen will you sing it
In Psalm chapter 10
You will find these lyrics in
He told loud and clear
That His coming is very near
Tell the wicked man this song
Because his ways are all wrong
If I tell you to sing the song
Just sing it!
