Psalm 135
135 Praise ye the Lord. Praise ye the name of the Lord; praise him, O ye servants of the Lord.
To announce God! Recognize the reputation of God! Praise Him again and again! Everyone who knows that He is God!
2 Ye that stand in the house of the Lord, in the courts of the house of our God.
The helpers, the Levites, there is no one who is so unnoticed that God does not expect praise!
3 Praise the Lord; for the Lord is good: sing praises unto his name; for it is pleasant.
God is good. God is good and it needs to be repeated. Sing of His goodness, live out His goodness, talk of His goodness. We are safe when we talk about God. When we talk about God we talk about Good.
4 For the Lord hath chosen Jacob unto himself, and Israel for his peculiar treasure.
God chose a man that was a sinner. He chose a man that told lies, He chose a man that stole, He chose a man that tricked his brother, He chose a man who was most like the world. He chose a man who needed Him.
5 For I know that the Lord is great, and that our Lord is above all gods. Know that the Lord is great.
I know. I know for myself that the Lord is large in kindness and His greatness is seen in all that He made.
6 Whatsoever the Lord pleased, that did he in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places.
The Lord is pleased to make what He made the way He made it. He was pleased to make the dry ground, the seas and the deep places. He was pleased to make what we can study and He was pleased to make those things that are too deep for us to know. All we know is He made it all. You can never be bored in God, His knowledge runs deep.
7 He causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings for the rain; he bringeth the wind out of his treasuries.
From God's treasury, he causes vapors to spring forth from the ends of the earth; for example, he cause the lightnings for the rain: he brings the wind from hidden places he called His treasure.
8 Who smote the firstborn of Egypt, both of man and beast.
9 Who sent tokens and wonders into the midst of thee, O Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his servants.
The Lord gives and the Lord takes. Pharoah would not do people right so God took. He is worthy because He sent a warning and Pharoah refused to listen and God judge Him and kept His Word by bringing death to the people of Egypt. When God speaks and warns us to obey, it indicates we ought to praise Him because He keeps His Word both negatively and positively.
10 Who smote great nations, and slew mighty kings;
11 Sihon king of the Amorites, and Og king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canaan:
12 And gave their land for an heritage, an heritage unto Israel his people.
Two of the most powerful kings recorded in the travel of the children of Israel from Egypt were the king of Sihon and the king of Og. Both of these kings were well known in ruling the lands. God showed the children of Israel that He was in control, and destroying these dynasty were some of the first to experience the wrath of God in behalf of Israel saftey.
13 Thy name, O Lord, endureth for ever; and thy memorial, O Lord, throughout all generations.
God is His name and time does not change in who He is.
14 For the Lord will judge his people, and he will repent himself concerning his servants.
The Lord judges and limits His wrath on ocassions.
15 The idols of the heathen are silver and gold, the work of men's hands.
16 They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not;
17 They have ears, but they hear not; neither is there any breath in their mouths.
18 They that make them are like unto them: so is every one that trusteth in them.
Man makes his own god. Anyone who makes his own god is as wise as the god he made. Lifeless gods are worshipped by lifeless people who made them.
19 Bless the Lord, O house of Israel: bless the Lord, O house of Aaron:
Let the common people and the leaders praise Him.
20 Bless the Lord, O house of Levi: ye that fear the Lord, bless the Lord. God wants praise by those who we overlook. God wants praise from those who are hard at working. God wants prays from every single person on earth.
21 Blessed be the Lord out of Zion, which dwelleth at Jerusalem. Praise ye the Lord.
Bless the Lord from the Word of God. When we study God's Word, you will speak well to them 24 hours a day.
