Proverbs 27
27 Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.
A proud plan for the next day don't do; tomorrow is not promised and you do not what the next day may bring.
Boasting is supported by pride.
2 Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.
When others see how good you are they will make it known. No one listens to what you say about yourself and takes you seriously.
3 A stone is heavy, and the sand weighty; but a fool's wrath is heavier than them both.
A stone is heavy and sand is heavy: but a mad man outweighs them both. In other words, an angry man is to be avoided.
4 Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before envy?
wrath and anger can be channeled with heavy equipment, but envy is a monster of emotions that cannot be gripped.
5 Open rebuke is better than secret love.
Correction openly is better than love unrevealed.
6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.
A friend will keep you in line, but a gift from an enemy is rotten.
7 The full soul loatheth an honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.
An appetite that is full will turn down its favorite dessert: but a hungry person will it whatever can is eatable.
8 As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so is a man that wandereth from his place.
A bird flies aimlessly, a man that has left his family is going nowhere.
9 Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so doth the sweetness of a man's friend by hearty counsel.
The right words are good in the time of need.
10 Thine own friend, and thy father's friend, forsake not; neither go into thy brother's house in the day of thy calamity: for better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off.
Keep close to the friend of your family and your own friend; why travel many miles away to a brother during hard times.
11 My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him that reproacheth me.
My son live and obey so I can brag on you when people give me a hard time.
12 A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself; but the simple pass on, and are punished.
A man of understanding looks before he leaps; a fool lives for the now and suffer.
13 Take his garment that is surety for a stranger, and take a pledge of him for a strange woman.
Take what a person really needs if you make him a loan; because he already made a bad decision in co-signing for a stranger.
14 He that blesseth his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, it shall be counted a curse to him.
Be courteous even when you are trying to be nice. For example: Do not play loud music at a time that people are trying to sleep; be considerate of what you enjoy and make sure you are not causing aggravation unnecessarily.
15 A continual dropping in a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike.
16 Whosoever hideth her hideth the wind, and the ointment of his right hand, which bewrayeth itself.
An argumentative woman is to be avoided. This type of woman is like a constant dripping inside the house while a hard rain is outside. Either way, you are stuck. If anyone thinks you can contain her, you have as much chance of holding the wind or holding oil in your right hand.
17 Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
The right words from a friend make a smile.
18 Whoso keepeth the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof: so he that waiteth on his master shall be honoured.
Work hard you will have food to eat and working hard makes your boss honor you.
19 As in water face answere.th to face, so the heart of man to man.
Your heart is who you are. Give it some time, it will speak, and let others know the real you.
20 Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied.
Hell and destructions have plenty of space. Outside of the discipline of God's Word, nothing is enough.
21 As the fining pot for silver, and the furnace for gold; so is a man to his praise.
How a man handles conflict, is the heart of the man.
22 Though thou shouldest bray a fool in a mortar among wheat with a pestle, yet will not his foolishness depart from him.
A fool is a fool is a fool. If you break him down to powder, he will still show you something foolish.
23 Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds.
24 For riches are not for ever: and doth the crown endure to every generation?
25 The hay appeareth, and the tender grass sheweth itself, and herbs of the mountains are gathered.
26 The lambs are for thy clothing, and the goats are the price of the field.
27 And thou shalt have goats' milk enough for thy food, for the food of thy household, and for the maintenance for thy maidens.
Know what you have to work with. If someone gives you a whole lot of money it will not take the place of hard work. Riches come and go, but hard work can be passed down from generation to generation. It makes a family strong. Know what you have and work hard at keeping it. Don't count the money you made and get relaxed; keep up the good work and money will never leave your house.
