5 So all the work Solomon did for the Lord’s temple was completed. Then Solomon brought the consecrated things of his father David—the silver, the gold, and all the utensils—and put them in the treasuries of God’s temple.
Solomon completed everything he started. Solomon showed integrity by bringing all of the things his father left to the place it was designated for which was the treasury of God's Temple. When we take things in the name of God, we should not use them for our own personal use.
Preparations for the Temple Dedication
2 At that time Solomon assembled at Jerusalem the elders of Israel—all the tribal heads, the ancestral chiefs of the Israelites—in order to bring the ark of the covenant of the Lord up from the city of David, that is, Zion.
Solomon follows the pattern set by his father David by calling all the leaders together to bring the ark of the covenant to the temple of God. When leaders work together the word of God will be easily brought from God to his people.
3 So all the men of Israel were assembled in the king’s presence at the festival; this was in the seventh month.
The seventh month was a time that Israel met for a festival set by God. God knows when to make a move. When God establishes a time for us to be together already, He considers our time and he incorporates any added assignments he has scheduled, during that time.
4 All the elders of Israel came, and the Levites picked up the ark.
All the elders followed Solomon's directions. The Levites picked up the ark. The Levites were the only authorized by God to carry the ark of God the way God instructed. The Levites and leaders remembered what happened to Uzza when inappropriately touch the ark of the covenant and died.
5 They brought up the ark, the tent of meeting, and the holy utensils that were in the tent. The priests and the Levites brought them up.
The ark, the tent, and the holy utensils used in the tent were brought up to the temple of God. The priests and the Levites were the only ones assigned to bring these things up.
6 King Solomon and the entire congregation of Israel who had gathered around him were in front of the ark sacrificing sheep, goats, and cattle that could not be counted or numbered because there were so many.
Solomon and all of the congregation of Israel sacrificed so many animals they were not able to count them. The last sacrifice Solomon made, he counted 1000 offerings. This time the offering seemingly increased. When people follow instructions, God will show up and so many good things will happen until only God can count the blessing he bestows on obedience.
7 The priests brought the ark of the Lord’s covenant to its place, into the inner sanctuary of the temple, to the most holy place, beneath the wings of the cherubim.
Solomon had an exact place for the Ark of the Covenant. It was placed where it was supposed to be placed.
8 And the cherubim spread their wings over the place of the ark so that the cherubim formed a cover above the ark and its poles.
Every part of the ark was covered. from the poles that were used to carry it to the ark itself. The cherubim's wings covered all parts indicating God's Word fully protects us.
9 The poles were so long that their ends were seen from the holy place in front of the inner sanctuary, but they were not seen from outside; they are still there today.
The poles were used to carry the ark of the covenant. Once the ark of the covenant was placed in the designated place the poles could only be seen inside of the temple. In order to receive the things of God, we must be in Christ. The world will never understand what is going on in the people of God. Our response to things negative or positive is different from the response of the world. There is power like a battery in us, that operates from a source, and that source is God. God works in us, when he does, it always brings fruitful results.
10 Nothing was in the ark except the two tablets that Moses had put in it at Horeb,[p] where the Lord had made a covenant with the Israelites when they came out of Egypt.
Nothing was in the ark except the Word. The rod that Aaron had nor the jar of manna was in there. But the Word of God that will never be removed was the only thing in the ark. The ark had gone through many things, but out of all the things it went through the word was preserved. It was carried to battle, stolen by Philistines, set in a place for many years, touched by unauthorized hands, and those who touched it were destroyed, placed in a place beside a false god that fell to its face; where ever it was placed, it stood the test and remained intact.
11 Now all the priests who were present had consecrated themselves regardless of their divisions. When the priests came out of the holy place,
The priest had special times to serve. During this time, God allowed modification. We are the ones who changed. God as our Father, knew what he would do. He works with us to bring us back on course when venturing away from his ordained path. It seemed like God made changes; no, he allowed us to make mistakes and he helped us to work through them, and allows us to continue on the path he already had set for us.
12 the Levitical singers dressed in fine linen and carrying cymbals, harps, and lyres were standing east of the altar, and with them were 120 priests blowing trumpets.
The word of God is present. Where the Word is a song is near. When people hear the word of God they will praise him.
The Levitical singers were descendants of Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun and their sons and relatives.
The skilled singers related to other skilled singers were there to sing.
13 The trumpeters and singers joined together to praise and thank the Lord with one voice. They raised their voices, accompanied by trumpets, cymbals, and musical instruments, in praise to the Lord: For he is good; his faithful love endures forever. The temple, the Lord’s temple, was filled with a cloud.
If it has been a long time and you've not experienced unity in God's people, the missing adhesive that brings people together is the Word of God. When we bring in the word, people behave rightly. When God's word is present, there is no need for additives. The word of God fills. (point blank period)
14 And because of the cloud, the priests were not able to continue ministering, for the glory of the Lord filled God’s temple.
Imagine being the guest of honor. All these people showed up on your behalf. You walk in and you are humbled that the people who worked for you wanted to celebrate your presence. The people want to be there, they want to bring you gifts, they want to sing your praises and they are glad you are in charge. Here is what I visualize; I believe that God himself was excited to be with his people. He expressed his presence so much so until there had to be silence. When the earth pleases God, there is no need to say one word. When God's presence meets man, man is full.
