Manasseh
Manasseh was the king
Who reign 55 years
He brought the eyes of God
To many many tears
He led the people of the Lord
From doing what was right
The people suffered needlessly
They lived in a constant fight
God had to correct this king
He was out of control
His enemy now ruled over him
His freedom is now on hold
Now locked up in a dungeon
The king is now the slave
He thought about the things he’d done
Now on his knees, he prays
Gods did not ignore him
He heard and saw his fears
Manasseh humbled himself
God dried his drowning tears
God took him and forgave him
And gave him back his throne
Manasseh king of many years
A good man he’s now known

33 Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty and five years in Jerusalem:
12 + 55 = 67. Manasseh was born 3 years of the 15 years after Hezekiah was given 15 extra years to live.n Manasseh's name is written in Matthew chapter 1 in the genealogy of Jesus. Whether good or not good, Jesus' bloodline is truth. Unlike some of us, we do not bring anyone with a spoiled or decayed lifestyle to the forefront. Only picture-perfect seems to be the one we boast of being a part of our families.
2 But did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, like unto the abominations of the heathen, whom the Lord had cast out before the children of Israel.
Manasseh did evil as king of Judah. Having influence is not a guarantee you will pick up good habits from those who demonstrated the right path to follow. Everyone has his or her own will.
3 For he built again the high places which Hezekiah his father had broken down, and he reared up altars for Baalim, and made groves, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them.
Manasseh wasted time. He could have made Judah a top-of-the-line place to live. Instead, he wasted time and money to undo what his dad did rightly.
4 Also he built altars in the house of the Lord, whereof the Lord had said, In Jerusalem shall my name be for ever.
God wanted one place of worship. Manasseh wanted denominations. He wanted people to pay taxes to him and allowed the people to pick and choose the type of service they wanted. He set laws in place that the people of God can do whatever they pleased. Being king, or the controller of law, Manasseh led God's people like he was a blind man.
5 And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the Lord.
He changed the blueprint of God. He knew better but he was too lazy or defiant to follow God's instructions.
6 And he caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom: also he observed times, and used enchantments, and used witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke him to anger.
The 5 Most Frequently Broken Laws
- Underage Drinking. According to SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions), about 26% of the under-21 crowd uses alcohol at least once a month. ...
- Littering. Littering is a crime throughout the entire United States, and the fines involved can be quite large. ...
- Smoking Marijuana. ...
- Jaywalking. ...
- Pirating music.
7 And he set a carved image, the idol which he had made, in the house of God, of which God had said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen before all the tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever:
8 Neither will I any more remove the foot of Israel from out of the land which I have appointed for your fathers; so that they will take heed to do all that I have commanded them, according to the whole law and the statutes and the ordinances by the hand of Moses.
Malachi 4:4
Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments
9 So Manasseh made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to err, and to do worse than the heathen, whom the Lord had destroyed before the children of Israel.
The king's word is the law. When a king makes a decree it is the law. If anyone breaks the law of the king he is usually put to death. God has more mercy than the law of an earthly king.
10 And the Lord spake to Manasseh, and to his people: but they would not hearken.
11 Wherefore the Lord brought upon them the captains of the host of the king of Assyria, which took Manasseh among the thorns, and bound him with fetters, and carried him to Babylon.
God uses the power of the ungodly to rule over the disobedient children of God who know better. Why does pain make us think? God knows he is not a liar. It is not his will that anyone perishes. If it takes correction by the ungodly to make us come to our senses, pain is not off-limit.
12 And when he was in affliction, he besought the Lord his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers,
13 And prayed unto him: and he was intreated of him, and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the Lord he was God.
14 Now after this he built a wall without the city of David, on the west side of Gihon, in the valley, even to the entering in at the fish gate, and compassed about Ophel, and raised it up a very great height, and put captains of war in all the fenced cities of Judah.
15 And he took away the strange gods, and the idol out of the house of the Lord, and all the altars that he had built in the mount of the house of the Lord, and in Jerusalem, and cast them out of the city.
16 And he repaired the altar of the Lord, and sacrificed thereon peace offerings and thank offerings, and commanded Judah to serve the Lord God of Israel.
Manasseh repented and God forgave. God allowed him to return to Jerusalem as king. He began to do what he knew should have been done. Why does it take affliction to make us do right? God was glad to see him return and he gave him a second chance.
17 Nevertheless the people did sacrifice still in the high places, yet unto the Lord their God only.
The people still worshiped in high places but this time, they worshipped God. It is hard to get 100% back on track. These people said, we will obey but we will do it our way.
18 Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and his prayer unto his God, and the words of the seers that spake to him in the name of the Lord God of Israel, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel.
19 His prayer also, and how God was intreated of him, and all his sins, and his trespass, and the places wherein he built high places, and set up groves and graven images, before he was humbled: behold, they are written among the sayings of the seers.
20 So Manasseh slept with his fathers, and they buried him in his own house: and Amon his son reigned in his stead.
A man forgiven dies. He reigns 52 years. He did evil but when God placed him in the hand of his enemy he sought the Lord and God heard him. God forgives sin.
21 Amon was two and twenty years old when he began to reign, and reigned two years in Jerusalem.
Amon took his father's place. He was king for 2 years.
22 But he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, as did Manasseh his father: for Amon sacrificed unto all the carved images which Manasseh his father had made, and served them;
23 And humbled not himself before the Lord, as Manasseh his father had humbled himself; but Amon trespassed more and more.
He did not change as his father did. He increased in sin more and more.
24 And his servants conspired against him, and slew him in his own house.
Judah is behaving as Northern Israel and the pagans. People forget God and do the same evil that God hates.
25 But the people of the land slew all them that had conspired against king Amon; and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his stead.
This is the behavior of Israel under the leadership of Jeroboam. One leader after another. The southern kingdom will become as the northern kingdom. Ruined.
