18 Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,
2 How long will it be ere ye make an end of words? mark, and afterwards we will speak.
How long will you say things that are in error? Take note and we will speak after you consider you are wrong.
3 Wherefore are we counted as beasts, and reputed vile in your sight?
How do you find wrong in us? You call us names and you see us as wrong in your sight.
4 He teareth himself in his anger: shall the earth be forsaken for thee? and shall the rock be removed out of his place?
You are angry and harm yourself. Shall the earth tremble because of you? shall rocks shake out of its place because you speak Mr. Job?
5 Yea, the light of the wicked shall be put out, and the spark of his fire shall not shine.
Job, you are a wicked person and you will soon die and you say will die with you.
6 The light shall be dark in his tabernacle, and his candle shall be put out with him.
Your house will be dark and you and your candle will be buried together.
7 The steps of his strength shall be straitened, and his own counsel shall cast him down.
Your words will be corrected and you will get the reward for the evil words you speak.
8 For he is cast into a net by his own feet, and he walketh upon a snare.
You dug a hole and you will be the one who will fall into it. Your words are a trap to you, and you will be caught in your own device of evil.
9 The gin shall take him by the heel, and the robber shall prevail against him.
You are going to fall by your own machinery and the robbers will be there to wipe you out.
10 The snare is laid for him in the ground, and a trap for him in the way.
Job, you are as an animal waiting to be caught in a trap.
11 Terrors shall make him afraid on every side, and shall drive him to his feet.
Bildad is going around in circles. There are no new things in his judgments against Job.
12 His strength shall be hungerbitten, and destruction shall be ready at his side.
Job is hungry and too, and too weak to move forward.
13 It shall devour the strength of his skin: even the firstborn of death shall devour his strength.
Bildad continues to speak of Job's failing fate. Bildad does not speak as the oracles of God.
14 His confidence shall be rooted out of his tabernacle, and it shall bring him to the king of terrors.
15 It shall dwell in his tabernacle, because it is none of his: brimstone shall be scattered upon his habitation.
In order for the calamity to fall of Job's habitation, he must first have more than what he has. Job is at his lowest. Bildad add weight to a man who cannot bear any more stress; not evern words of stress. On a healthy day a man cannot handle such words from Bildad.
16 His roots shall be dried up beneath, and above shall his branch be cut off.
What roots? Will Job have substance again? Will he have branches again?
17 His remembrance shall perish from the earth, and he shall have no name in the street.
Job will be forgotten. Well we know that is not true. We are reading of him right now.
18 He shall be driven from light into darkness, and chased out of the world.
Bildad's argument is weakening.
19 He shall neither have son nor nephew among his people, nor any remaining in his dwellings.
His argument is a lie. He is patching things up to make his points.
20 They that come after him shall be astonied at his day, as they that went before were affrighted.
21 Surely such are the dwellings of the wicked, and this is the place of him that knoweth not God.
Bildad speaks of himself. He does not know God. His words only can further deceive those who are blind already.
Job represents the church of God.
Bildad represents the religious leaders of the enemy.
Bildad's argument is filled with holes. The enemy camp is crumbling. The words of the enemy are too fragile to hold the truth. When we know the truth, you will see particles of flaky words that are of no use. Believers must study to show they know the difference between the truth and what is not true.
Sing or Say
Job 18
Keep talking
I am listening to the words you say
Keep talking
Your lie is going to give you away.
Keep talking
Do you really hear yourself?
Keep talking
It only proves you don’t care.
When a liar speaks
His words are weak
There a hole in his mouth
The truth he can’t keep!
Now that you know
The truth will prevail
No matter how you flip it
You can always tell
The truth is the Word God
The truth finds a place in your heart
The truth will never change
No matter how you speak it, it will always be the same.
