Psalm 104

104 Bless the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty.

God is a big God with enough love to cover everybody everywhere.

He carries Himself in a respectful manner at all times.  He is well organized and He does not talk much.  He is a good listener too!

Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain:

God dresses in the light at all times.  His clothes are the light itself.  His curtains are the window covering that he is seeing and is seen everywhere.  Where there is light, there is God.

Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who maketh the clouds his chariot: who walketh upon the wings of the wind:

The rooms of God are secure.  The beams are strong enough to hold the world in mid-air.  His ride is so high that the strongest clouds keep Him steady as He rides.  When He wants to take a walk, God walks on the wind.

Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire:

When you see the right things being carried out, or things being made right, it is the commandments being carried out by the spirit of God through angels.  When Sodom and Gomorrah needed corrections, the angels of God were found on the scene.  If God wanted a bush to burn, the angels were there with the torch in hand.  Angels are ministers of flaming fire.  When the truth enters the earth, the angels clear the enemy of the plan of God by burning anything that will cause a delay in what God commanded.

Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever.

The angels did a good job laying the foundation and making the earth unmovable.

Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a garment: the waters stood above the mountains.

Water was everywhere.  Water covered the entire earth, mountains included.

At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away.

God gave a command and the waters moved quickly to the place God sent them.

They go up by the mountains; they go down by the valleys unto the place which thou hast founded for them.

The waters moved where God instructed and they move quickly.

Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth.

The waters stood in the designated place God said to be.  They did not run on inch beyond God's instruction.  Water obeyed God.

10 He sendeth the springs into the valleys, which run among the hills.

drink without being drowned.

11 They give drink to every beast of the field: the wild asses quench their thirst.

There was enough water to satisfy the thirst of every beast.

12 By them shall the fowls of the heaven have their habitation, which sing among the branches.

The same spring gave water to the thirsty fowl.

13 He watereth the hills from his chambers: the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works.

God was so good to the earth and its need until the earth was satisfied.

14 He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth;

God gave animals the food they needed and he made provision for the apple of His eye to have the food necessary and desired for man.

15 And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man's heart.

God gave wine to make men feel good, he gave oil to make man look good, and he provided bread to make man full.

16 The trees of the Lord are full of sap; the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted;

God did not use man-made fertilizer to keep the trees healthy and producing.  He made the trees and he made them good for what man would need.

17 Where the birds make their nests: as for the stork, the fir trees are her house.

The trees were a place for the birds to nest: storks used trees to call their home.

18 The high hills are a refuge for the wild goats; and the rocks for the conies.

God made high hills for the wild goats to call home; he even made a place for the little rabbits.

The trees and animals were placed and were systematically working in God's idea of beauty.  Everything move at the right time doing what they were created to do.

19 He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down.

The moon clocked in on time: the sun did not move until the time for it to do what God had commanded it to do.

20 Thou makest darkness, and it is night: wherein all the beasts of the forest do creep forth.

God made the beast creep at night.

21 The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their meat from God.

The young lion depended on God for their food.

22 The sun ariseth, they gather themselves together, and lay them down in their dens.

After they found food, they went into the place God prepared for them to rest until it was time to be fed again.

23 Man goeth forth unto his work and to his labour until the evening.

Beast out at night, man ruled the day.  God is the creator of the absence of chaos.

24 Lord, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.

God worked hard.  God completed every job He started.  What He did was wise and what he made was not cheaply made.

25 So is this great and wide sea, wherein are things creeping innumerable, both small and great beasts.

26 There go the ships: there is that leviathan, whom thou hast made to play therein.

27 These wait all upon thee; that thou mayest give them their meat in due season.

28 That thou givest them they gather: thou openest thine hand, they are filled with good.

Not only did God provide for the earth and its animals, but God also provided for every creature that lived in the water.  He carefully took care of everything He made on the earth.

29 Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled: thou takest away their breath, they die, and return to their dust.

After creating an awesome world, man sinned and the sin of man affected the world and every living thing in it.  The creature did not see the face of God and life was not the same.  When the sins of Noah's generation refused to obey God, God destroyed all who did not follow his instructions after telling them for 120 years to return to His instructions.

30 Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou renewest the face of the earth.

God gave man another chance and renewed the earth.  He did this by sending the right spirit to lead man.

31 The glory of the Lord shall endure for ever: the Lord shall rejoice in his works.

Without man God is good.  Man with God, God is good.  There is nothing that can stop God from enjoying Himself and emptying His mercy.

32 He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth: he toucheth the hills, and they smoke.

God called His people at Mount Sinai.  The earth did not standstill.  The mountain knew holiness called and when holiness found itself on the mountain and the surrounding areas, even the earth said let me position myself to honor the King of kings.

33 I will sing unto the Lord as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.

After learning how God operates, the writer shows us he felt to know what He knows when studying the Word of God.  When you grasp the Wonders of God,  singing a song is evident that you have been in the presence of God.

34 My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the Lord.

I am hooked on the Word of God.  My thoughts are sweet.  I am glad to be in the Word of God.

35 Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless thou the Lord, O my soul. Praise ye the Lord.

Having understood God and all he has done, and the decision not to believe him after seeing the wonders of the world, you will never see the creator who made all this.  To continue to disobey God will result in death.
