Ecclesiastes 6

There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, and it is common among men:

Solomon states he sees common problems among people.

A man to whom God hath given riches, wealth, and honour, so that he wanteth nothing for his soul of all that he desireth, yet God giveth him not power to eat thereof, but a stranger eateth it: this is vanity, and it is an evil disease.

You have the luxury of life but to sick to enjoy it.  A stranger eats what was prepared for you.  This is vain and it is a disease that is evil.

If a man beget an hundred children, and live many years, so that the days of his years be many, and his soul be not filled with good, and

also that he have no burial; I say, that an untimely birth is better than he.

A man with many children who lives a long time and his children did not care for him is worse than a miscarriage.

For he cometh in with vanity, and departeth in darkness, and his name shall be covered with darkness.

He came in with excessive pride and he died in sin, and his name is smeared with the sins he did.

Moreover he hath not seen the sun, nor known any thing: this hath more rest than the other.

Also he never saw the purpose of life, neither did he know any thing: this was not as hard as what happened to him.

Yea, though he live a thousand years twice told, yet hath he seen no good: do not all go to one place?

When we live apart from God......All though he lived a long time, did it really matter?  Don't we all end up in the same place without God?

All the labour of man is for his mouth, and yet the appetite is not filled.

A man works to get what he wants and still he is not satisfied.

For what hath the wise more than the fool? what hath the poor, that knoweth to walk before the living?

What do the wise have that is more than the fool? Why are the poor alive?

Better is the sight of the eyes than the wandering of the desire: this is also vanity and vexation of spirit.

To desire what you wish is not better than what you actually have.  The grass is not greener on the other side.

10 That which hath been is named already, and it is known that it is man: neither may he contend with him that is mightier than he.

We spend our lives becoming who we are good or bad, one day we will have to meet God.  There will no changing the mind, what we  spend your lives doing is who we are.  Man meets God.   Let there be silence.........Man cannot bring a case against God.  The judgement.

11 Seeing there be many things that increase vanity, what is man the better?

Making money to simply buy many things create vainity, is man better than things?

12 For who knoweth what is good for man in this life, all the days of his vain life which he spendeth as a shadow? for who can tell a man what shall be after him under the sun?

How does man know what is good for him?  He spends his life trying to find things that are worthless.  Who can tell a man about what will happen on earth when he is gone?
