Proverbs 19
19 Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.
Being poor and having God is better than a man who does not live by God's Word the way it is written.
A poor man is better than a smooth talker.
2 Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth.
Anyone who lives without God's Word is living in a state that is not good; and anyone who makes a quick decision without good instructions sins.
3 The foolishness of man perverteth his way: and his heart fretteth against the Lord.
Man's ungodly ways distort his decisions: then the results he gets make him blame God.
4 Wealth maketh many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbour.
Wealthy people have friends; people do not want to be around poor people.
5 A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.
You will be punished for not misrepresenting God's Word, and he that speaks lies will not get by.
6 Many will intreat the favour of the prince: and every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts.
A lot of people will beg for a favor from the government: and everybody wants to be friends with people who have money.
7 All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him? he pursueth them with words, yet they are wanting to him.
Poor people are not on the list of he's my best friend. People prefer not to be around poor people.
8 He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good.
People who seek God's Word love life: He that continues in the Word will live a good life.
9 A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish.
Do not be a witness if you do not know the truth, he that speaks lies will die.
10 Delight is not seemly for a fool; much less for a servant to have rule over princes.
Nobody wants to be known as a fool. Being a fool is not attractive. It is out of order to see a servant leading a prince: but it does happen.
11 The discretion of a man deferreth his anger, and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.
A man who can control his temper and handle things in the right way earns respect from people who observe him.
12 The king's wrath is as the roaring of a lion; but his favour is as dew upon the grass.
Make a king mad, he will be like a mad lion: but when he gives gifts, they are all over the place.
13 A foolish son is the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.
Living with a woman who cannot be satisfied, is like hearing a small irretating noise that won't stop.
14 House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the Lord.
Realastate can be passed down: but only God can give a good wife.
15 Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.
Lazy people can sleep and know absolutely nothing of his surroundings: a person who waste time will get hungry.
16 He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die.
Love God's Word and live: hate God's Word and die.
17 He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.
Anyone who help the poor, will not ever lack for doing so. Whatever he spends on the poor, God will make sure he is paid in full for it.
18 Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.
When a child is young train him; if he cries because he does not want to do what you said, ignore the tears and make him obey.
19 A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: for if thou deliver him, yet thou must do it again.
You cannot help anyone who does not want to be helped.
20 Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.
Study God's Word so you will always know what to do.
21 There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand.
People have many ways of doing things; but only what God supports, will last.
22 The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar.
Everyone wants to treated kindly, so be kind: it is better to have little than to pretend you have riches.
23 The fear of the Lord tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.
To have a daily diet in God's Words shows you honor God. That man's life will always be satisfied. If evil knocks at your door, you will recognize it and sent it away.
24 A slothful man hideth his hand in his bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.
A lazy man hides his strength and will not let you know he is not as weak as he pretends he is. For example, a person will pay doctors or attorneys to say they have disabilties; they then have to act like something is wrong with them all the time or they will lose their benefits.
25 Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, and he will understand knowledge.
Correct the powerful the followers will take heed: correct a man who loves God's Word, he will be a even better person.
26 He that wasteth his father, and chaseth away his mother, is a son that causeth shame, and bringeth reproach.
Any son who does not take good care of his parents when he has the means to do so, is an embarrassment to his family and community.
27 Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge.
Stop ignoring God's instructions. Stop doing things that cause you to get off track from God's Word.
28 An ungodly witness scorneth judgment: and the mouth of the wicked devoureth iniquity.
Religious people are people who cast God's Word to the side. Partial reading of God's Word is total disobedient. Religious leaders love to eat wrong information.
29 Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools.
God has already judged everything, all things judged that man will ever do is listed in the Word of God. There is nothing that man will do, that God has not already covered.
