Isaiah 15:1-9 (KJV)

1 The burden of Moab. Because in the night Ar of Moab is laid waste,
[and] brought to silence;
 because in the night Kir of Moab is laid waste, [and] brought to silence;

 The cities of Moab are under attack during the night.

2 He is gone up to Bajith,
and to Dibon,
the high places,
to weep:
Moab shall howl over Nebo,
and over Medeba:
 on all their heads [shall be] baldness,
[and] every beard cut off.

Instead of coming to the living God, Moab does what religious people do; they cry and return to their rituals and religious ways and refuse to submit to the Word of God.

3 In their streets they shall gird themselves with sackcloth:
 on the tops of their houses,
and in their streets,
every one shall howl,
weeping abundantly.

Look at the religious habit Moab is carrying out in verse three.  Today we practice the same pagan behaviors.  We offer an outward show of rituals instead of simply seeking God for the right choices we should take in a crisis.  We seek God when we go to His Word which we should already be reading.  If we have a constant walk with God, we will never be caught off guard.

4 And Heshbon shall cry,
 and Elealeh:
their voice shall be heard [even] unto Jahaz:
 therefore the armed soldiers of Moab shall cry out;
 his life shall be grievous unto him.

All the surrounding cities connected to Moab are hurting.  God is showing us what we must do in our day to avoid this same outcome of ignoring or being ignorant of His Word.  When we are not taught the Word of God correctly we will get the same result of Moab.

 5 My heart shall cry out for Moab;
 his fugitives [shall flee] unto Zoar,
 an heifer of three years old:
for by the mounting up of Luhith with weeping shall they go it up; for in the way of Horonaim they shall raise up a cry of destruction.

God's heart is in pain because Moab refuses to come to Him.  Moab is on the run and there is no place to run to.  Religion makes fools of people.  We hurt and think that what has never worked will work now because we are in pain.

6 For the waters of Nimrim shall be desolate:
 for the hay is withered away,
 the grass faileth,
there is no green thing.

When lacking the necessities of life, we will soon be wasted.  Water is a necessity that every living thing must-have.  Moab again does not seek the Living God for a way out.

7 Therefore the abundance they have gotten,
and that which they have laid up,
shall they carry away to the brook of the willows.

Moab takes things that mean something to them while running for their lives.  When we do not have the essential things for life, what do we have that really matter?  Still the ungodly city under attack runs away from the living God.

 8 For the cry is gone round about the borders of Moab;
 the howling thereof unto Eglaim,
and the howling thereof unto Beerelim.

Now the cry has hit the outskirts of Moab.  Moab allowed themselves to go without.  All they had to do, was listen to God they saw the evidence in His people, but, because of bad habits, they continued doing the wrongs they were accustomed to.

9 For the waters of Dimon shall be full of blood:
for I will bring more upon Dimon,
 lions upon him that escapeth of Moab,
and upon the remnant of the land.

They ran to the water and the water became a graveyard.  When we run for safety without God, we run needlessly.  The strongest hold then now is having faith without God's Word which is a man-made religion.
