Isaiah 6
Isaiah 6:1-13 (KJV)
1 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
Isaiah saw the Lord as we can see the Lord through His Word. The Lord was sitting upon a throne, the Lord was high and lifted up and His train or his order filled the temple.
His train has been referred to as a long veil as what a bride wears. Perhaps? As I study the word train, I saw that it could mean firm directions. I can see God's order was vividly displayed in the temple.
2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.
There were angels who had six wings. Two wings covered thier face, and twow wings covered the feet and there was another set of wings that was used for flying. I am waiting for God to reveal to me the purpose of this verse.
3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, [is] the LORD of hosts: the whole earth [is] full of his glory.
The voices that cried, Holy holy holy, seem to be magnifying all that God has created for earth or in earth.
4 And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.
When the Word of God is present, even the things created by God takes notice. God's presence is represented by smoke. This is not the smoke that you do not want around, this smoke is God is near.
5 Then said I, Woe [is] me! for I am undone; because I [am] a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.
This is chapter 6 and Isaiah says for the first time in this chapter that he has been a person who did wrong with his lips.
Could he be a prophet who God used to bring correction in himself, then speak as God to others?
6 Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, [which] he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:
One of the angels directed his flight to Isaiah. The angel took a tong and picked up a hot coal:
7 And he laid [it] upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.
Isaiah confessed that he has sinned with his mouth and he also stated his company was equally void of speaking things that were right.
We must confess our sins.
8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here [am] I; send me.
Isaiah spoke and now he hears God's voice. God asks who would go and speak on His behalf? I saw God, Isaiah confessed his sin, the angel was used by God to do what was necessary to purge Isaiah of his wrong, Isaiah hears from God and lastly Isaiah is sent by God.
If we recognize God, confess our sins, listen to God we too can volenteer to carry out an assignment needed by God ot work through us to carry out his plan.
9 And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.
God told him to go to his unbelieving people and say what He said, even though they had proven they would not do what he said do.
10 Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.
God told Isaiah to teach so much of His Word until the people are made fat, make their ears tired of hearing what Isaiah said about God repeatedly. Teach them and they may repent. Give them a chance to hear even if they ignore what I am saying.
11 Then said I, Lord, how long? And he answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate,
Isaiah asks how long should he do this? God responded and said until you do not see anyone left standing.
12 And the LORD have removed men far away, and [there be] a great forsaking in the midst of the land.
Isaiah did not move so the people left and wen far from the Word of God being spoken by Isaiah .
13 But yet in it [shall be] a tenth, and [it] shall return, and shall be eaten: as a teil tree, and as an oak, whose substance [is] in them, when they cast [their leaves: so] the holy seed [shall be] the substance thereof.
God compared the fate of the people to the trees related to the oak tree and the oak tree. Oak trees do not shed their leaves at the same time as some other trees. This can be compared to people who think they are not going to get what others have gotten.
Like the trees lost leaves, so the people who thought they could not be corrected lost what they were covering as the leaves that hang from the trees.
Everyone must obey God. The well-known and least known will answer to God. We will all stand before God without a covering.
As the substance that produces the trees in this verse so is the substance of God's Word will be carried out as He has spoken.
