The Song of Songs 6
Song of Songs 6:1-13 (KJV) 1 Whither is thy beloved gone, O thou fairest among women? whither is thy beloved turned aside? that we may seek him with thee.
After the women heard of Solomom's description, they asked where they might find him?
2 My beloved is gone down into his garden, to the beds of spices, to feed in the gardens, and to gather lilies.
She tells them the location where they may find him.
3 I [am] my beloved's, and my beloved [is] mine: he feedeth among the lilies.
She speaks again telling how much the two of them are in love.
4 Thou [art] beautiful, O my love, as Tirzah, comely as Jerusalem, terrible as [an army] with banners.
Solomon speaks again of how much he loves her.
5 Turn away thine eyes from me, for they have overcome me: thy hair [is] as a flock of goats that appear from Gilead.
Solomon is seemingly saying that his bride's beauty makes him blush profusely.
6 Thy teeth [are] as a flock of sheep which go up from the washing, whereof every one beareth twins, and [there is] not one barren among them.
7 As a piece of a pomegranate [are] thy temples within thy locks.
Solomon sings again the lyrics of the beauty of his bride. Women love to be noticed by their husbands and although men do not ask for the praise of how handsome they are, they do not notice it when they do not receive it.
When a husband and wife fear God, they see the beauty in each, and praise between the two will be as common as breathing.
8 There are threescore queens, and fourscore concubines, and virgins without number.
9 My dove, my undefiled is [but] one; she [is] the [only] one of her mother, she [is] the choice [one] of her that bare her. The daughters saw her, and blessed her; [yea], the queens and the concubines, and they praised her.
10 Who [is] she [that] looketh forth as the morning, fair as the moon, clear as the sun, [and] terrible as [an army] with banners?
Although there are women all over the place, Solomon is saying he has eyes for only his wife.
11 I went down into the garden of nuts to see the fruits of the valley, [and] to see whether the vine flourished, [and] the pomegranates budded.
The man is stating his whereabouts. God told us what he was doing on days 1-7 when he created the earth. When a couple has nothing to hide, real love can exist in that home. Keep communication open at all times and be accountable if need be.
12 Or ever I was aware, my soul made me [like] the chariots of Amminadib.
Could it be that Solomon is saying, I was at work and the thought of you made me want to come home in a hurry?
13 Return, return, O Shulamite; return, return, that we may look upon thee. What will ye see in the Shulamite? As it were the company of two armies.
After reading several commentaries about this last verse, I did not find any two of them to say the same thing.
I've concluded that the speakers (women who are speaking in this verse) leave with the mindset that marriage is a powerful unity of man and woman. When two people agree, it shows the power of force. The two companies or armies allowed me to see when the man and woman are united, it is extremely dangerous to the darkness of the camp of the enemy. This is why the devil uses many marriages to carry out his agenda. But, when two people love and know God, thousands of marriages and homes can and will be influenced ultimately changing the face of our entire world.
