Isaiah 66:1-24 (KJV)

1 Thus saith the LORD, The heaven [is] my throne, and the earth [is] my footstool: where [is] the house that ye build unto me? and where [is] the place of my rest?

God is saying that I am one body part of me sits in heaven and part of me rests on earth. If I already own everything, what can you build me?  You dedicated a house to me and you defile what was mine.

2 For all those [things] hath mine hand made, and all those [things] have been, saith the LORD: but to this [man] will I look, [even] to [him that is] poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.

The materials and the hands that made me a house it was mine before you did it. I wanna see this, I wanna see how you treat each other. I want to see a broken spirit, a polite disposition, and someone who respects that I am God and my word is the same as who I am.

3 He that killeth an ox [is as if] he slew a man; he that sacrificeth a lamb, [as if] he cut off a dog's neck; he that offereth an oblation, [as if he offered] swine's blood; he that burneth incense, [as if] he blessed an idol. Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations.

I gave instructions to Moses on how to offer me an offering. But you killed and offered it to me as if you killed a man and ran away; you sacrifice a lamb to me just like you would've done if you cut off an animal's head because you did not care about that animal; you made prayers to me and offered me a drink often again like you did not care; you made a burnt offering to me as if I was not  God at all. Just like Cain, you think that you can throw me up something and I will take it? I will not take it. I showed you how I wanted things done and that's the way it will be.

4 I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear: but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose [that] in which I delighted not.

I will send something your way to scare you because you refuse to listen to me. I spoke, I gave you my word, and you did not listen and you did not read my instructions. The things that you want to give me of your own, I will not accept.

5 Hear the word of the LORD, ye that tremble at his word; Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my name's sake, said, Let the LORD be glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed.

Anyone who has been thrown out of anything concerning My Word and they hurt you because of me, I will give you joy and you will not be made ashamed.

6 A voice of noise from the city, a voice from the temple, a voice of the LORD that rendereth recompence to his enemies.

When I am angry you will hear noise in the city, you will hear noise in the temple and you will know that I am expressing how you have made me feel.

7 Before she travailed, she brought forth; before her pain came, she was delivered of a man child.

Things are so out of order; you gave birth without pain meaning you miscarried.

8 Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? [or] shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.

Whoever heard of anything that's made well made quickly? Anything that is made good takes time. We have learned to do things in a chaotic way and we expect it to work, and God is saying it will not work because that's not the way I said it should be, and neither is it the way that I said it will work.

9 Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the LORD: shall I cause to bring forth, and shut [the womb]? saith thy God.

Shall I bring anything to life without a proper way of bringing it? Shall I bring you all the way to a place for you to deliver and you do not deliver?

10 Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all ye that love her: rejoice for joy with her, all ye that mourn for her:

Be glad for my people! Love my people! Shout for joy for my people! Be glad even if she's going through problems because she will come out.

11 That ye may suck, and be satisfied with the breasts of her consolations; that ye may milk out, and be delighted with the abundance of her glory.

Understand that being a part of my people who are of Jerusalem will be providing all of the goods that you will need. Because I am the supplier, I will feed you and I will be delighted to do it and I will make sure you have more than enough, only if you stay in my word.

12 For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then shall ye suck, ye shall be borne upon [her] sides, and be dandled upon [her] knees.

Being a part of the people that I will provide for is like being a baby being born to a good mother who provides her milk to her young; she will also bounce the baby from her knees; that's what it is like, letting me be your God.  I will feed you, watch you grow, and have fun with you all the days of your life.

13 As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem.

Jerusalem is the place where you said you built a house for me. Since that is the place designed for me I will meet you there and I will be a     comfort and I will provide all of your needs just like a good mother.

14 And when ye see [this], your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like an herb: and the hand of the LORD shall be known toward his servants, and [his] indignation toward his enemies.

When you make me your God I will make your body healthy; your bones will rejoice and your heart will beat gladness.  I will make a distinction between you and my enemies; you will look good and your enemy will not. Your enemies will be mad but you will be glad because you made me your God.  When I make this distinction between you and the enemies of my word, you will then know that I am your God.

15 For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire.

Because you refuse to listen to me I will come in a chariot filled with fire and you will understand that I am upset. I am angry because you did not listen and you wasted all of this time.

16 For by fire and by his sword will the LORD plead with all flesh: and the slain of the LORD shall be many.

Death will be caused by fire and death will be caused by a sword;  it will all be because of the anger of God because people refused to listen to His Word.

17 They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one [tree] in the midst, eating swine's flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the LORD.

You will be gathered together with the mouse and you will be consumed in the same place where you did things the way you wanted to do them. You did not follow my guidelines you did things on your own; I will both destroy you and the mouse that gathers together in the garden.

18 For I [know] their works and their thoughts: it shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory.

I know those who are mine;  I can see them: I will gather all of my people together from everywhere and they will see my glory because they paid attention to my word.

19 And I will set a sign among them, and I will send those that escape of them unto the nations, [to] Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, that draw the bow, [to] Tubal, and Javan, [to] the isles afar off, that have not heard my fame, neither have seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the Gentiles.

When the Holy Spirit has spoken, I will send people all over the world, and people that have never known me will come to me and I will show them who I am and I will be their God.

20 And they shall bring all your brethren [for] an offering unto the LORD out of all nations upon horses, and in chariots, and in litters, and upon mules, and upon swift beasts, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, saith the LORD, as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the LORD.

Those that get to know who I am will bring offerings from all over the place, and they will bring those offerings right. I will be their God and I will accept their offerings.

21 And I will also take of them for priests [and] for Levites, saith the LORD.

These people will minister to me and they will allow me to use their hands to get the job done. I will be their Lord and they will be my people.

22 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.

The earth as you know it will be made brand new and the heavens that you see it will also be made brand new.   All people that know that I am God, will have a new name and a new reputation.

23 And it shall come to pass, [that] from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.

Worship will be from sun up to sundown from day today.

24 And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.

The evidence of my judgment will be seen by my people who are called by my name; they will see dead bodies and worms that will not die; my people will understand that the bodies they will see, are the people that did not obey my laws.  The people will have their own worms and their own fire that will never stop burning.  Anyone who sees this will hate what they will see.
