Ezekiel 11

Moreover the spirit lifted me up, and brought me unto the east gate of the LORD'S house, which looketh eastward: and behold at the door of the gate five and twenty men; among whom I saw Jaazaniah the son of Azur, and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, princes of the people.

In chapter nine God was on the move and bringing Ezekiel with Him.  Because I read one chapter a day, I thought the movement was at a halt.  I was wrong in my thinking.  God is steadily showing Ezekiel his plan.  They are on the east side of Jerusalem and go into more detail about the 25 men God spoke of in chapter 9.  Ezekiel speaks of two of the men by name, Jaazaniah, and Pelatiah.

Then said he unto me, Son of man, these are the men that devise mischief, and give wicked counsel in this city:

God had nothing good to say about Jaazaniah and Pelatiah.  He tells Ezekiah what type of me they were.

Which say, It is not near; let us build houses: this city is the caldron, and we be the flesh.

The two men prophesy against Ezekiel.  Ezekiel told the people to live and increase their families because we will be here a long time.  The two false prophets told the people, that the destruction of Jerusalem is not near, we can build houses? or let us build houses is not clear, but what is clear is the destruction is near and God already spoke through Jeremiah to tell the people because they will be here a long time, build and live, and multiply.  The two liars subtracted from the Word of God and mislead the people.  They also said Babylon is the pot and we are the people who will be eaten from the pot.  Some bible commentators said they meant no harm could come to them because they are safe as in a gated community; the pot served as security from attack.  Whatever they said is not clear, and people who do not hear from God sound as unclear about what God is doing as this verse.  You cannot figure out the speech of a liar.  The truth is, we do not know what the two are saying.

Therefore prophesy against them, prophesy, O son of man.

God told Ezekiel to refute what they were saying.

And the Spirit of the LORD fell upon me, and said unto me, Speak; Thus saith the LORD; Thus have ye said, O house of Israel: for I know the things that come into your mind, every one of them.

Tell the liars that I being God said, I know the things that come into your mind, I know everything you think.

Ye have multiplied your slain in this city, and ye have filled the streets thereof with the slain.

Your killings of people have become greater in number and you have filled the city with dead bodies.

Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Your slain whom ye have laid in the midst of it, they are the flesh, and this city is the caldron: but I will bring you forth out of the midst of it.

The pot is the city and the people you killed are the flesh in the pot: but I will bring you out of the safe place I have you hid.  God gives us a safe place to dwell while He judges others.  However, if we decide to sin in a safe place, God will remove us from even the place He has hidden us in, for an appointed time.

Ye have feared the sword; and I will bring a sword upon you, saith the Lord GOD.

The very thing you are afraid of, I will make happen to you, because you prophesy against what I have spoken.

And I will bring you out of the midst thereof, and deliver you into the hands of strangers, and will execute judgments among you.

Because you refuse to listen even now, I will bring judgment against you said the Lord.

10.  Ye shall fall by the sword; I will judge you in the border of Israel; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

You will die; and to be more specific, I will judge on the border of Israel.  Then you will realize I am God.

11.  This city shall not be your caldron, neither shall ye be the flesh in the midst thereof; but I will judge you in the border of Israel:

The city will not be your safe haven, neither will you be safe in the pot or the city: I will bring judgment upon you in the border of Israel.

And ye shall know that I am the LORD: for ye have not walked in my statutes, neither executed my judgments, but have done after the manners of the heathen that are round about you.

You did not allow My Word to guide you, instead, you lived like the ungodly and practice their ways.

And it came to pass, when I prophesied, that Pelatiah the son of Benaiah died. Then fell I down upon my face, and cried with a loud voice, and said, Ah Lord GOD! wilt thou make a full end of the remnant of Israel?

Ezekiel said while he was telling the people what God said, Benaiah one of the false prophets died suddenly, and it scared him.  He asked God is anyone going to be left to see the promise you made in the end for Israel?  Are you going to kill all of Israel?  Although this is a vision, God showed Ezekiel exactly what was to come even in his response to the death of the false prophet.

Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

Son of man, thy brethren, even thy brethren, the men of thy kindred, and all the house of Israel wholly, are they unto whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said, Get you far from the LORD: unto us is this land given in possession.

God replied and said, those people who are still in Jerusalem are saying, God removed you who are in Babylon far from the land but kept us here to give us who are left the promised land.

Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Although I have cast them far off among the heathen, and although I have scattered them among the countries, yet will I be to them as a little sanctuary in the countries where they shall come.

Although some of My people are carried far away, yet will I meet them in a little sanctuary where ever they are.

Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even gather you from the people, and assemble you out of the countries where ye have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.

I will bring back to the Land of Promise those whom I have scattered and they will know that I am God.

And they shall come thither, and they shall take away all the detestable things thereof and all the abominations thereof from thence.

By then you will have learned that I am God and you will not behave as the heathens.

And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:

I will give you a new heart and the old stubborn heart will be done away with.

That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.

You will be manageable, and I will be God.

But as for them whose heart walketh after the heart of their detestable things and their abominations, I will recompense their way upon their own heads, saith the Lord GOD.

Anyone who does not change, I will give you the wages of your sins.

Then did the cherubims lift up their wings, and the wheels beside them; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.

And the glory of the LORD went up from the midst of the city, and stood upon the mountain which is on the east side of the city.

Then God and His personal staff of angels moved upward to the mountain that was located east of the city they were communing.

Afterward the spirit took me up, and brought me in a vision by the Spirit of God into Chaldea, to them of the captivity. So the vision that I had seen went up from me.

I was taken back home in my vision after God finished speaking.

Then I spake unto them of the captivity all the things that the LORD had showed me.

Then I told all those around me, what God showed him in a vision.

The vision was so explicit, that I got lost in thinking all of what God was showing Ezekiel was happening at the moment He was speaking.  The death of one of the false prophets was so precise, was it also a vision?
